Hi boys girls,

You're going to be receiving a survey from BackerKit real soon. BackerKit is this awesome survey tool that allows you to order extra copies of the record, add on other fun items, and generally just give you a bunch of flexibility getting your stuff from our campaign!

Just to get you psyched, remember in my introductory video when I asked you to imagine how the song, Angels And One-Armed Jugglers would sound with real horns? Well, click the link below and you won't have to imagine…

Things of been moving along pretty quickly. I'm sorry I haven't had time to post many updates… The release date for the record is October 20 and for sure you guys are going to be hearing stuff and getting stuff, OK?

oh, man.

that was amazing. i can't thank you gang enough for your backing. all of your messages and comments and encouragement has meant a lot to me during this campaign. not gonna lie. it's an emotional roller coaster.

ok.

a lot of people have asked me about getting additional copies of the record and also getting items from other pledge categories.

it turns out there are a few companies that do surveys where you can add on items like additional copies of the record or a t-shirt. i'm looking at BackerKit. has anyone had any experience with them? they have good feedback from projects. i'd just like to know a bit more about the backer experience if anyone has had any...

roman, who's producing the record, and i are getting together in the studio this thursday to listen to everything and get ready to schedule the rest of the studio time. i'll keep you all posted.

thanks again for making all this come to life.

your furry pal,

chris.

oh...and here's a picture of my cat, gus.

Back In The Studio
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 03, 2017 at 12:42:37 AM

Hi Backers,

Roman and I spent the better part of yesterday in the studio listening down to everything. I have to say, after being away from the music for a while doing all this funding, I really enjoyed being back with the songs again. We listened to and assessed every song and determined what our next steps will be to complete the recording of the record.

Pretty much everything we decided to do is already in the budget. We decided to go with a slightly more up-tempo version of the tune some of you may know as "In A Cold Kind Of Way" and we're going to bring Shawn Pelton and Jesse Murphy back in to play drums and bass respectively on that track so, that's an addition to the budget. We're also going to add some strings to that song. We decided to put a tuba on another tune some of you may be familiar with, "The World Accordion To Garp". This is all to say that there are a couple of new line items in the budget. That being said, our goal of $30,000 left plenty of leeway for these additions and more if any arise.

The next step is proceeding with our plan, booking studio time with Sean and Jesse and then doing the sessions with the horn players and the string players. Then we're going to bring Andrew Carillo back in to play some more electric guitar.

Roman and I both came away from the day with an amplified enthusiasm for the material and these recordings. And on a personal level I'm indescribably grateful to be able to move forward knowing I have all the funds I need to execute this record and realize these songs so completely.

I've always been hyper-conscious of the fact that I am able to have a career thanks to all of you but it's never been more concretely evident to me than now, making this record for a faithful public that has invested in it almost solely on their faith in me.

In conclusion, Roman and I are moving forward full steam ahead and within our budget.

In other news, I've gotten a lot of great feedback about BackerKit and I've spoken on the phone to a representative. I've done my homework and I've decided to go with them. Keep your eyes peeled for your survey soon. I'm thinking of making a coffee mug available as well as additional copies of the vinyl and the CD and a T-shirt. If anybody else has any ideas about other cool add-ons, I would welcome any suggestions.

Well… That's my report.

I remain.

Your furry pal,

Chris Barron.

PS Here's a particularly weird picture of my cat Gus.
